We welcome Prof. (Dr.) Yatish Agarwal, who has joined the Al Falah family as Director, Al Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research, with effect from July 1, 2024.

Statesman, researcher, clinician, teacher, scholar, author, and thinker, known for his keen administrative and organizational capabilities, avant-garde approach and ethical professionalism, Prof. (Dr.) Yatish Agarwal, M.D. (Radiodiagnosis), University of Delhi; D.Sc. (Honoris causa), Allahabad; and Rajasthan; was until recent heading the office of Dean, University School of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, shepherding 30 medical colleges, nursing colleges, and paramedical institutions, while marshalling more than 70 academic courses. Having held several batons in Indraprastha University, he has officiated as Vice Chancellor of the university from time to time.

Dr. Agarwal is Fellow, Foundation of Detection of Early Gastric Carcinoma, Tokyo; WHO Fellow, Mahidol University, Thailand; and has been National Consultant WHO India. He harbours deep and cohesive ties with a large number of public institutions both in the governmental and non-governmental sector, and is associated in various capacities with NBEMS, NMC, UPSC, UGC, AIIMS, DMC, and NCERT. He has been adviser, author and editor for major publishing giants like Elsevier, Wolters Kluwer, Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, Mayo Clinic, Rupa & Co., NBT, and Orient; and has been on the board of philanthropic bodies and national juries.

Formerly, a Professor of Radiodiagnosis at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, he has guided more than 90 postgrad students between 1995 and 2024. He has authored a large body of thought provoking editorials, seminal papers, essays on history of medicine, and penned pieces of poetry on ethics in medicine. He has been Editor-in-Chief of a national medical journal, and Asia editor of some of the most reputed international journals. He has authored more than 50 books, which have sold more than 3 million copies, penned hundreds of articles, radio and television serials, been a regular contributor to Manorama Year Book, and has been a columnist with leading national dailies since 1981 both in English and Hindi.

He is Chair, National and Institutional Ethical Committees, member of National Committees and part of the think-tank of number of national bodies.

His work stands recognised in several quarters. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Services Award, Indian Radiological and Imaging Association, Delhi 2021; VigyanProdyogiki Award, Hindi Akademi, Govt. of Delhi, 2019; Vigyan Bhushan, Govt of Uttar Pradesh, 2014; Centenary Award, Vigyan Parishad, Allahabad, 2013; Indira Gandhi National Award, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, 2006; Rajiv Gandhi National Award, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, 2005; Indian Council of Medical Research Award, 2004; Shiksha Award, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, 2003; Lifetime Achievement Award, Indian Science Writers’ Association, 2003; Littérateur Award, Lifetime Award in the field of Literature, Hindi Akademi, 2003; Meghnad Saha Award, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, 2002; Atmaram Award, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, 1999; National Science and Technology Award, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, 1999, among others.
